Whats your boat Gully??
What length, motor and possible price if you dont mind (just a rough range) . I have a centree console up north but love the look of those bigger walk arounds.
Hows it going Spooled.
The boat is a 5.8m Trailcraft centrecab with a 115hp 2 stroke on the back. New you are looking at just under the 40K mark.
Is unreal for fishing and diving off, being able to follow fish around the boat is an absolute dream
Cheers Gully, I have been looking around for these and I love the walkarounds. I have a smaller 475 quintrex centre console with 75hp on the back and they are just awesome when folllowing big fish around the boat. May look to upgrade in the next year or so!!
Where did you get yours. Private or Dealer??
I went to a dealer mate as I bought it from new. Am very fussy about boats so wanted to set it up from scratch myself so it was to my liking.
We were launching at Tantabiddi on that day Jay. Looks a bit different due to it being low tide so you had to beach it with the car to get to the dropoff.
Tantabiddi beach brings back some fond memories from last year of bogging a borrowed 4by down to the axles. Being noobie we didn't see the racks to back down on and the skipper decided putting the back tyres onto the sand would be the only way to get the boat out. We ended up thinking that we were all going to be taking out personal loans to pay off my childhood mates 25g car. After finally getting it out and giving our lonely rankin cod to the German guys that helped us we collected the skipper who had jumped in some lady's audi to go back to the lighthouse park to get a 4by to pull us out and headed back to Exxy chocked with sand.
It then proceeded to rain terrentially for the next 2 days, time I spent unpacking biddi sand and shells from the rear drum brakes of his rodeo. Then the front suspension and discs. It only took him 3 hours to tell me that there was a hidden screw which released the drum, meaning my hours of hammering and using a hose to squirt the sand out were well spent. Took the car in to the local guy after saying we got it bogged. He just said, why didn't ya just tell me it was chocked full of biddi sand. Tell ya what, this year we're learning from our mistakes!
heard a rumour that the biddi ramp was getting a bit of money spent on it.has anyone used it lately ? has it changed at all? does anyone know if this is the case
always in it just the depth that varies
the bundegi ramp is hopefully getting replaced in the next 5 or so months and biddi will be on the cards for being done next... big $ and lots of work so it will be wait. but worth it.
It's about time because the amount of money that get's poured into that town by visiting anglers, let alone the locals means that as it is, the local council's taking the piss IMO. The fact that the ramps are hardly ever scraped back to the concrete with a front end loader on a regular basis is pathetic.
The only downside might be that the better ramps will increase the fishing pressure (particularly on the west side). There's no doubt that the current ramps impact on the numbers of people launching.
John
Ps. The Bundegi ramp was unusable earlier this year because lowlife's had pinched the aluminium tracks. On a positive note, the biddi now has 6 steel tracks, instead of 4.
The work that I will be under taking up there will be assessing the impact placed by recs. I will surely be able to note the difference in amount of boats launching at each place once the upgrades have been made.
