fish jaws

fish jaws

Lately I've been mucking around with some fish jaws.  They're painted and glued onto aluminium plate.  In this pic are Spanish Mackerel, Dogtooth tuna, Coral Trout and Reef Jack.  Pretty happy with the results.

Awesome! How would I go about isolating the jaw of a shark or fish?

 Just have to slowly simmer

Just have to slowly simmer the head in water until you can pull the jaws out.  Don't boil it too hot or the teeth will fall out

thats awesome mate. If I gave you a snapper head how much will you charge? Preserving the entire head with the bump etc would be epic.

 Mate I'm in Cairns.  Pulling

Mate I'm in Cairns.  Pulling the jaws is pretty easy then dry them, glue them together then paint before glueing to the plate.  Some years back I saw someone was doing full skulls and they were incredible but haven't seen anything like that recently
