Family Fishing

Family Fishing

I took a day off work today and took a couple of friends of mine out for a fish. They have their sons on island at the moment so it was a great opportunity for them to spend the day together and I was more than happy to provide the boat for a family fishing trip. It was 25-30 knots and 2.5 metre swell but we managed to grab some yummy Mahi Mahi with all of them getting a chance to wind one in. So all is all it was a great day and they now have some fresh fish to enjoy over the next week or so while they are together.

Nice thing to take friends out and watch them have fun. Dollies are the fastest growing fish (one off) that I know off, so I would never feel sorry about taking one for a feed. I just dont like the taste of them.

Cheers Neels. You're right they are fastest growing fish in the ocean. There would less than four months in age between the fish and I think they only live for about four-five years max. I love the taste of them, they even sashimi them here.

I decided to play the true Aussie host today. I made sure after each strike that the hooks were set and then passed the rod over for someone else to wind in. I nearly enjoyed that more than catching the fish myself, nearly.....
