Always good for finding current lines and eddies, generally has a few opportunistic dollies sittin under it too.

I'm not exactly sure when the spawning starts and finishes andy, but i no that there is a heap aound towards the end of summer, Feb/Mar/Apr. Its pretty awsome when the coral spawn is the only thing breaking up the deep cobalt blue water off Exmouth, bring on Gamex 2007!

Gamex 2007

I narrowly missed out on a berth with Bernie Vale aboard Mahi Mahi I in Gamex 2000 when I sponsored his team but couldn't make it myself due to work commitments. The bastard sent me a video of the whole event to rub it in, some awesome footage of big blacks, spaniards and wahoo, which started my craving for some blue water action up at Exmouth.

Until recently, I haven't been in control of when and if I can take leave to some extent, so I haven't been able to get up there for previous events.

I dunno, but maybe 2007 or 2008 I could be a starter myself ....woo hoo!

Cheers

Spawning

I thought the coral spawned in November on the neap?????
Maybe Im confused...which isnt unusual actually

I remember going for a night dive years ago to watch the spawning with Bubbles up at Coral Bay.....freaking knowing the men in grey suits prefer the cover of darkness.

I was told the other day November is good for billies inside the gulf around Exmouth reef....is this true????

Usually

Usually the coral spawning events I've witnessed off Mandurah this year and Abrolhos for many years now, are the Full moon in March followed by a smaller event at the full moon in April.

It does seem to send all the fish off the bite as tho either oxygens low or all the fish are full.... is the best I can describe it.

Cheers!
