The trusty ol Trailcraft. I've been in Gully's 5.8 walkaround craft and its a nice ride, still takes a few bangs n bumps, but what ally doesn't. If she gets you home safe, then you gotta be happy. :)
My next door neighbour Greg has a 6.2m or 6.4m (can't remember) Malcolm Douglas Special. Beautiful sea boat. Look mum no hands, as it cuts its way through slop and swell with ease. Hydraulic steering is a big plus.
I have seen 3 that have gone under. Malcom douglas has split one in half, and so on i cant say to much more. If you have seen there factory and the rate that they pump out boats, the quality has to suffer. You pay for quality.
Have heard stories good and bad from others, some very bad... Not going into it thou. But all the ones I have ridden in have been sweet, so my opinion is that they are pretty good value for money, but there is the occasional bad one.
I have a 6 meter trailcraft and have done 256 hours in it without any dramas this boat is powered by a 200hp Yamaha 4 stroke and i havent seen any sighns of cracking yet. Have owned Seaquest hulled boats and driven a Coraline but nothing is as good as the TRailcraft.
I often wondered what the consquence of loosing the pods plastic screw-in inspection hatch....
I cant see if the pod section is separate from the rest of the sealed hull ....can water get in there????....
My hull doesnt leak....never had a drop come out of the drain hole....should it have a bilge installed in the pod?????....my live well pump is mounted in there...yes protential problem....
Those inspection hatches are potential problem on all allys Salmo. I know of a few that have cracked and filled the hull up with water not just on trailcrafts. Was going to replace the one on my Genesis with an alloy one before I got rid of it.
