Bay fishing
Submitted by Flying dutchman on Fri, 2014-06-06 07:06
I have been seeing all these pinks been caught and haven't been out on the water for a solid couple of months, due to giving my gear a rest and busy working. But I couldn't hold off anymore so I took my bro(amateur) for a fish. I headed out off quindalup to my fav bay mark and 3 drops later we were coming in. Back in fishing mode finally

And read the guidelines for
And read the guidelines for fisherman, your allowed 2 pinks per license and 2 dhufish per boat. Meaning I could have 2 dhus and 4 pinks onboard if I wanted. Not many people know this. Only just found out recently my self speaking to a local fisheries officer.

I honestly wish you were right!
Not sure where you are but if your West Coast, that is definitely not correct unless there is 3 of you onboard.
Note Im not criticizing your pic, catch or anything like that, couldnt care except that you will get done for that if caught.

yeah mate,
I wasn't (fully) meaning to be an asshole, but if a fisheries guy told you that, I really hope you got his full name and badge number, cos that mofo needs to go back to sunshine college of tafe for hairdressing....
without ANY exceptions, it is: 2 x category 1 fish, per person, per day (west coast bioregion), dhufish included, with a max boat limit of dhus at 2.
dhufish = cat 1.
snapper = cat 1.
1 dhufish + 1 snapper = 2 x cat 1 fish = daily limit
anyway, good fish, nonetheless.

Says here that you are only allowed 2 Demersal fish per person, think the fisheries office you spoke to needs to do some homework

Sorry for the clarity I
Sorry for the clarity I thought I had added that my old man was onboard. But yeah ur only allowed 2 demersal fish like your say mate. So if three on board ur allowed 6 pinks or 2 dhus(which is max always) plus 2 pinks. But also if you go out before midnight and come back after midnight your quota changes. You can bring back double. That's what the fisheries guy told me. Wondering if anyone else had heard that? In this case you would be better off going out before midnight.

All good mate, can't
All good mate, can't remember the exact rules on fishing over night and bringing in 2 days quota, but needing some evidence or proof that you were out there and caught your limit on the seperate days and not just on the one day comes to mind. That's a whole other kettle of fish tho!
Nice catch by the way!

lucky that dad was there after all :-)
if out for two days yes your bag limit is doubled but the boat limit isnt.
Cant be assed trolling through the regs but I think there is something like "at least 4 hours", so you cant leave at 23.55 and call it 2 days.
Plus you need to think how you can "prove" to the FO your departure.
Still only 2 dhuies onboard either way though.
Hence when I do an island trip with 4 licences onboard for 5 days, still only 2 dhuies onboard

not quiet , This is the combined maximum number of fish of any species within one category (such as demersal or large pelagic) that a fisher may take in any 24-hour period (from midnight to midnight, except from midday to midday for marron and when recreationally netting).
