Where to buy good fresh prawns?
Submitted by wicksey on Mon, 2009-11-23 08:56
Hi guys,
After struggling to get up saturday mornings to get prawns from Catalanos on Collier Rd (and fight the crowds) I'd love to know somewhere NOR where I can get some nice fresh prawns, not of that imported and thawed stuff.
Cheers

wicksey we buy (frozen)
prawns from our super store IGA here in Spearwood. I would imagine north of the the river super IGA would have the same. They are up north prawns. 3kg box for $50 not cooked works out at $16 a kg (just bought last Friday two boxes before they go up for xmas.) They are endeavours (good size and not seconds) They also have 3kg box of endeavours from up north cooked for $40, another north west prawn $65 a box for king prawns. We've found that buying them raw and then cooking them taste better, bit firmer meat and shell. Don't know about anybody else, don't think you can get fresh prawns they are usually thawed for your convenience. We swear by the nor west prawns sold at our super IGA store, and would recommended buying them, all Western Australian prawns that we buy.

They dont cook prawns on board Hezzy, though they do process pretty quick at Exmouth.
