As mentioned Alfred, the swell is the biggest issue there and thats in winter in particular. When the swells up the whole area breaks and it's nasty and the leads will help but very exposed to the danger....as mentioned....more winter.
As for nows weather, i just head in the direction i'm fishing and away i go, keeping an eye on crayposta and reef swirls also!
Just watch the marina mouth ,if the swells up 3m plus you go about 40m north then stop and pick a gap as theres a shallow reef north off the marina, and it will break level with the outside wall and roll to the beach .On a big swell it will close out right across..as a general rule the further south you go when you get to the bank the less white water as the bank is deeper down south.i have had days when we have had the swell rise to 6m while out fishing forget a north end crossing ,head down infront off yanchep and there is alot a gaps between waves once inside the reef head north until the leads line up and then head for the marina . 20 years off crayfishing from Two Rocks have crossed that bank in all conditions it is a very tricky place on a big swell so take no chances If your not shore and the swells up BE CAREFULL if you need any more info pm me

Just watch out for swell/waves breaking next to the marina corner as you head out, gets a little shallow there sometimes.
