tuna out from two rocks??
Submitted by wicked game on Thu, 2010-02-04 21:46
hey guys, i work on a cray boat out from two rocks.
latley weve been seeing a fair few schools of fish hitting the surface (with quite big splashes might i add) after baitfish with birds working above.
beeing the keen angler i am and not able to have a cast at these supicious splashes, i was just wondering if anyone could suggest what they might be.
i know it may sound a bit optomistic but i think they could be tuna or big bonito.
if anyone knows what they might be please let me know.
cheers

I picked
up a nice blue fin tuna approx 4-5 kg trolling a blue/white williamson skirt thru a school of bird/baitfish action couple of weeks ago in about 15fthms out from two rocks just on the way home from outside, put up a wicked fight especially when boatside and me mate missed the first net shot haha thing went nuts all over again! great fun
tasted absolutley beautiful aswell chopped up marinated in chilli, garlic, ginger and soy then bbq'd
hopefully get into sum nice fish sunday and get a troll in again aswell
last few fish we have got on the troll have been bonito but this one was a nice surprise a mackie or a yft would be even beter tho

The last couple of times
The last couple of times we've been out down Mandurah way, we've seen a bit of activity in the water but keep forgeting to throw the lures in. Bugger. Will try and remember tomorrow.
I fish for the future - Cause I can't bloody catch anything!

Theres plenty of tuna around
Theres plenty of tuna around at the moment. We trolled lures in about 25-32m outside of FFB back of Garden Island this morning and picked up a nice Shark Mackerel which we pulled the hooks on at boat side and also a nice 5-6kg SBT through a school of mulies. The mulies were everywhere!! Both fish caught on the Pilchard pattern Halco Laser Pro 190D.
