Beaches
North of Mindarie up around Quinns, likely spots for whiting and herring. Relatively protected beaches with low swell.

As wopjrb said by the boat
As wopjrb said by the boat ramps ar hillarys on the other side (closest to the boats) inside that little bay. cast a line out on a running bean sinker rig with a longshank and put some quide strip on the hook you will get Skippy Tarwine whiting and those hard fighters Trumpeter! im sure you will get some nice hard fighting fish in there

Rockwall opposite the cafe at Quinns
I was told the other week, from a good source that the herring were quite prolific there if you use a bit of burley.

yip go around to the ramp
yip go around to the ramp side at Ocean Reef boat ramp and you get herring and other small bait fish, even the kids favorite!!! the blowies...lol
if you worried about not being able to swim, then invest in a kids PDF ( lifejacket) my son use to often fish as a 3 year old of the navy harbor wall back in south africa with his life-jacket on. He only fell in once and I dragged him out squealing like a stuffed pig, they learn fast...lol.
For $20 your kids life is protected and the nice ones have handle on the back to lift them out when they get wet!
cheers

If you want to go a little
If you want to go a little further afield - Yanchep beach is a nice family spot. The lagoon is quite well protected - plenty of herring, gardies, whiting - plus always the chance of something bigger - tailor, salmon in a while.

You could try some
You could try some freshwater fishing that solves all of the problems of waves and stuff. But then again depending where you go and what your using freshawter fishing isnt always as action packed as saltwater. And alot of the places to go freshwater would be a bit more of a drive.
