transom mounting a transducer
I am about to mount a new lowrance 50/200 transducer. I am running a 75 hp honda 4 stroke with a right handed prop. The transom has two mounting plates already welded onto it, one port side, one starboard side. I intend to mount the transducer onto one of these so I don't have to drill holes into the hull. They are spaced 400 mm either side of the keel and have uninterrupted water flow in front of them. Now, I suppose my question relates to wiring. The easiest wiring route is with all the outboard electrics and cabling and a deckwash intake through the transom on the starboard side. But the installation instructions say if possible avoid other electrical wiring if possible. The port side of my transom is walk through and whilst possible to run the cable there it will be very difficult, and probably exposed to more wear and tear and possible damage.
Anyone have any comment about the importance of running the transducer cable away from other electronics???

Transducer cables are pretty well shielded nowadays but still better to go down the passenger side away from other electrics if possible but given the walkthrough problem I'd go down drivers side maybe run cable through some elect conduit for most of the run past other cabling or hang it down off cable ties a little if able so its not tight against it

The first meter would be unavoidable until it gets into the combing under the side deck and then I could run it through conduit. Down the track I also want to run a structure scan transducer which I will probably mount on the opposite side but run the cable the same way????

if covered most of the way
if covered most of the way you should be right. If you notice interference later on switch off everything else and if it goes away the interference is electrical. then start the motor/s and give them a rev noting if the sounder screen changes. spark plugs in motors nowadays shouldn't be a problem in this regards

I have just
Fitted the new Furuno to mine, the instructions called for the starbourd side as preference due to the rotation of the prop with a min distance from the prop. This one and the previous unit from the previous boat all went up the starbourd side with the other electronics and no issue, i dont know why it would say to avoid other elctrics if possible, if its going to the dash thats totally unvoidable to an extent any way.
The main focus should be to get it set in clear water at the right angle.

Mate i mounted mine
Mate i mounted mine starboard side on the back, i have a 1kw tranny and a furuno 585
like you said i ran my wires through the same spot as outboard cables and other things
i also ran my wire with all the other electrics cos my rear door doesn't allow me to run on other side
the cable is well shielded and i have no interference and have no noticeable issues....
my sounder works well

You will need to mount the structure scan tranny next to the 50/200 if you want to overlay the downscan information onto the sonar. If you dont want to overlay the data opposite side is fine.

Structure scan runs on a
Structure scan runs on a different frequency so no interference with the normal 50/200 or 80/200 tranny. I mounted mine either side but not concerned about overlay as I'd rather see the individual readings (and didn't want to 1/4 the screen as it makes it too small on a 5inch)

Who is good with maths
Trying to work out the angle of the transom. Apparently most transom are 14°. I have used a set square and worked out the vertical edge is 210 mm, the horizontal edge is 40 mm. What's the angle at the top (the narrowest of the three corners)...

you can buy a digital angle
you can buy a digital angle meter or download the app on your phone I found it much easier then doing the calculations when I fitted my ss264 transducers to the boat the phone ones can be a bit jumpy so download a few otherwise head to a hardware store or ebay you can pick them up from 20-50 dollars

Thanks andy. That's the angle from the bottom of the hull. My boat is stowed on a very sloping driveway, so the actual angle of the transom from the vertical when the boat is level may be different. I have downloaded a phone app so I will measure the waterline angle and the transom and calculate it. See what I get.
