You guys who have a 2tonne plus trailer, do you have any sort of handbrake fitted on it?

thanks mate, just completing my trailer upgrade to 3 tonne and the hitch has a handbrake handle fitted but I was sure Brett Martin told me to just cut it off.
Probably over the pits tuesday, tomorrow need to get the new Cruiser into WA rego also so its a busy couple of days dealing with our local one man show for licencing

Im rated to 3000kg and I dont have one. I reckon if it did I would def use it. Saves chasing around for a brick and could avoid an embarrassing situation like almost happened to me. Unhitched and the trailer slowly started to roll backwards. Ever tried to stop 3t of rolling boat by yourself !

Not on Mine
Don't see how it could be done really. Even if you could do it, it would only work until the battery was flat !

Saw a couple try retrieve
Saw a couple try retrieve their boat on Saturday afternoon at woodman point, of which the trailer had a hand brake and it was on whilst trying to retrieve.
The lady jumps in the Ford Sedan.....Puts it in drive....realises the boat is pretty heavy and rolls back a bit on the ramp.... decides it gas it... IT was like watching a burnout at the drags!! not seen smoke come off tires like that since i was a teenager!!
Bloke jumps off the boat giving the missus a grilling before he realises he fked up anbd left the tralier hand brake on!
What a crack up.
Cut it off i reckon! mine doesnt have one

if you have override electric
if you have override electric brakes then it won't work..
If you have cabled brakes leave it on...

you can pull your brake away
you can pull your brake away lanyard in the event that you need too stop your trailer (trailer starts rolling) - noting that i dont mean that you can use it as a handbrake!! - seperately its also worth doing this once a month, the calipers have a bad habit of seizing or getting sticky if not used regularly -a lot easier than hitching up the rig and driving around the block!
