You will have to do about 25k or so off-road to get in to Wedge.

Best way is to get on the track via Lancelin. I usually enter the Lancelin Off-Road area and skirt around the west side of the dunes. There you can eventually pick up the track the runs north.

The track will take you through the defence range. Once you are clear of that, a few K's up the road you will cross the Indian Ocean Dve road in progress. Stick on the track and you will eventually cross back over.

Keep following for a few more K's and eventually you will pop out in Wedge.

Drop your tyre pressure in Lancelin and if you are heading out in the evening look out for Roos and Emus.

One more tip - when you pop out on the dune just before Wedge, mark the spot on your GPS. It might help you on the way back out again!

if taking the track do not

if taking the track do not deflate tyres as whrn you come along the fence line the rocks are very unforgiving and will spike tyres. we have been doing wedge for 24 years now as we own a shack up there and beleive me the track is crap . you will be looking at round 1 hour to do t he track as it is fairly messed up. no parts of the track itself are boggy at all only the dunes at the sart and end of the track are a little more difficult not nothing high four cant fix (we did it in a falcoon not to long ago) if you are heading during the day time take the beach from narrow neck if not to exp very eeasy drive and the turn off is 1k past the defence area entry (tyre also saying "narrow neck")
and there is a tryre deflating area there just before the beach. from narrow neck it is a straight run up the beach that on low tide is awesum and fast this will cut time dwn by 20min and will save your back.
