tinnie fuel tank leaking

hi guys

i just want to put it out there and ask the question of what you all do for storage of tinny / small runabout fuel tanks. i have the usual 22ltr red plastic tanks and i keep them stored in my tinnie in the carport. I have found that when it gets anthing above about 25 degrees the fuel and fuel vapour expands. When the tank is pressurised due to warm weather the fuel leaks out of the brass fuel line connector.I come home and the carport skinks of fuel.

Is it best to leave the ventilation bung on top of the vank unscrewed so it can breathe? the only concern i could see with this would be the fuel evaporating and then the oil / fuel mix would be way too oily cos half of the fuel has dissapeared?

any idea's or suggestions of how you normally store yours and what you do to prevent this problem would be greatly appreciated.

scano

Leave the top right off mate and gently poke a clean rag in there, this will stop dusk and shit getting in there and stop evporation as well. Well thats what i used to do anyway and it works :)

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!
