Successful mission
Hit the water again last night chasing the snapper. This time we were a bit more prepared to be smoked . As it started to get dark the fun .
We had a couple of good runs early but resulted in spat hooks . Then a couple of absolute smoking runs we got snapped of . Managed to get a shark of about 4 foot to the side of the boat after a 10 minuit fight only to have the hook bitten off. After that we had a score of fish 7 us 0.
All went quiet for a while then 2 of the 3 lines in the water went nuts. After about a 10 minuit fight both Sandy and i had monster pinks boatside. I decided to try and deadlift my pink over to get over to halp Sandy land hers . Big mistake. Hook pulled. Spewing. Altho we did manage to get Sandys into the net and on the deck with high 5s we were stoked. Within a few more minuits before we could get all sorted again the 3rd line went nuts. With a bit of teamwork and about 15 minuits we had a nice hammer to the side of the boat and with a perfect gaffe shot from Sandy the shark was flapping around on deck. In the end the score was fish 8 us 2 . Happy with the results altho could have been bettet but still got a good feed and had a great but frustrating night.the pinkie went 850ish and just on the 7 kg mark. The hammer went 15 kg. Going to be some nice meals on the way.

hammers are around the same
hammers are around the same eating as mako. they arent bad fresh but better after freezing. the important thing is to cut the tail through and the head if not almost through and gut asap removing the brown blood line out of its belly.that removes the amonia which taints the flesh

after 2 days in the freezer
after 2 days in the freezer iwe thawed out a couple of portions of the hammer. i have gotta say it was delicious.
i would reccommend that if anyone gets one of that size keep it, was one of the best ive tasted.
