.If you have a local fishing store that can do it do so.Avoids line twist and is far easier than guessing how much backing you need to fill the spool properly.

i dont ever put any backing on my reels, i prefer to fill em up with braid

im with brad . i wrap the spool base with a wrap of electrical tape to give the braid something to bite into and loop the line arondt the spool a few times before i tie the knots down

That sounds like a good idea Clint, I'll keep that in mind.

just put about 10-15 metres of mono on then attatch your braid and fill it because sometimes if you fill the spool with just braid, when the heat gets to it the hole spool of line will spin causing BIGGGGG problem when hooking BIG fish

As the other guys said - pointless if you put a few wraps of tape when you start the line.

Only back the spool when you're using a deep spool and there is no point splurging filling it with braid.

what breaking strain braid and how much you want to fill it with???

As you can see there's plenty of answers but depends on what you want to do.....
