On another topic old mate wanted to know about the towing in 4th or 5th and DD_01 pointed alot of us in the direction of the Diagnostic tool....
Its a great place here to learn & pick up ideas...
I thought i'd get that going so if there is something you think others are mad for not doing pass it on here....
I'll obviously start it off and its not really a biggy but for the past 3 years we've been going halves in a beast, works out to be about 70kg of meat....
Because the price of meat went up a shitload the first one we had done was $700 plus $400 for the butchering, the last one we had done was $1000 + 400....
It still worked out at $10/kg and that is everything.... The best snags i've had, fillets, roasts etc etc, Fuck the big supermarkets with their shit meat and i'm afraid the butchers now are pretty expensive for the good cuts so we've found it awsome value...
Got one hanging up as we speak and it will hang for 10-14 days before the cryovac gets a work out...
Lasts us 12 months....
Give it a go if you know a farmer, i'm sure you wont be disappointed....

Done that a couple of times when we lived in Busso, mates parents had a place out the back of Caple where the cow grazed until it was time to make meat out of it.

My Italian Uncle does at least 10 pigs per year and for some reason the dings aren't fussed with the ribs and I end up with a shopping back full of meaty ribs. I used to get lambs from him but I have to drive to Waroona to pick them up and once kids came along it was time I didn't have to spare.
Leading back to the thread title the same Uncle has given me his family recipes for curing meats and I have converted a fridge into a curing chamber with an external hygro thermometre that controls both temperature and humidity and can make coppa, pancetta and ding snag etc all year round. Been given the official tick of approval by my uncle and his italian mates after I took some coppa down.

Got a mate in Gero who supplies 2 and 4 tooth hoggets, cut up, packed and frozen for $50. Might be a bit tough on some but definitely has more taste than lamb which sells for around $100 a side

I used to be a farmer and the term hogget only applies to sheep that have two adult teeth. Four tooth sheep are another year older and could explain why they are a bit tough. If I were you I would stick to the the "two teeth hoggets".

so many uses for 18V drill.
to wind down the legs on camper or caravan. Or to get dinghy off the roof rack.
Also grab one of those mixer blades from old school kitchen mixer and take it camping. attach to drill and mix batter, pikelet mix etc.ncy
take on boat with some large cable ties for emergency cray pot repairs.
Also saw an 18v device in a certain shop window in Amsterdam but that is another story..........
Got a KORR camping light setup. Multiple LED light strips with Y junctions, cig lighter or alligator clips, adjustable light output. all in a PVC tube.

Snap lock bags, put your fillets (Or chicken, steak etc) in flat and lower the bag into water in the sink which pushes the air out and close the seal - no more freezer burnt fillets and quicker, easier and cheaper than the Vac seal method and you don't need power!

Step you course over about 50 to a 100 metres each side of the straight line, that way you cover new ground each time

When was the last time you saw one of them in the bush. I can't remember seeing a guinea fowl it was that long ago and they used to be common in the south west. Bryce and Timboon you blokes are showing your age. ha ha ha
