Hi,
I currently have a PE2 outfit consisting of a Branzino 3000 matched to an Evergreen Poseidon Spin Jerker PSPJ603L. I am looking for a new rod to handle slightly bigger jigs 80-120g but also to be a bit more powerful than the Spin Jerker whilst using the same reel. From cruising the posts here it looks like the Major Craft Alexander AXS 60/3 could be a good choice, or maybe the size up 60/4. Unfortunately I am unable to have a look at any rods over here in the east. Can anyone give me a bit of advice on which rod would suit my requirements better, or even if there is another rod that might suffice. My mate has an Xzoga 6012 which seems pretty good too, but I do like the titanium guides on the Major Craft.
Cheers,
Simon

The saber game just folds
The saber game just folds away, not impressed. JohnF has the light Alexander but its not that good with heavier jigs, and the next model up doesn't have the same great action.

Have a look at the Maria
Have a look at the Maria Steady Jigger 60 - 150. Great rod for jigs around 100-150g. Has an excellant action and has heaps of balls. I have the same Spin Jerker as you and love it. The Maria is great when you need a slightly heavier rod.

You could also look at the
You could also look at the Yamaga Galahad 59/3... rated to 120g jigs. The Yamagas look nice and I'm going to get a couple soon for demersal jigging.

Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the feedback guys. As I expected it is not a simple solution.......
I love my Spin Jerker and have caught some great fish on it. I also have the Maria Steady Jig 80-200 as my current "next size up" stick. I just need to find something in between.
It looks like I'll have to do the rounds of the local shops again to see if there is anything new.
Cheers,
Simon

I have an Xzoga 6013 (PE3)and
I have an Xzoga 6013 (PE3)and very happy with it. It handles 180g so the PE2 would be about 150g max I think. Though it's a PE3 rod I'm running a Cerate Hyper Custom 4000 with PE2 and upgraded drag washers and have been able to stop 15kg GT's and Doggies no issues.
The Branzino would still be a good fit on the PE2 or PE3 rod.
