Skin checks... get them done!
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 2017-01-20 11:06
For the last 2 years I've been getting regular skin checks, on my last visit they noticed one that had considerably changed from the previous check (6 months) to the naked eye it looked the same to me. Anyway if I hadn't of gone in I would have been none the wiser, had changed enough for them to take it out straight away! They took an area the size of a 20c piece and has been sent off for biopsy... so I recommend you do the same if you havnt been in a while.

Good advice and hope results
Good advice and hope results negative, need to find a good specialist and stick with them so they can monitor changes. Us old timers will remember growing up and no such thing as wearing hats, just weren,t around except for army hats popular with Viet recruits though. At least we know better now and look after our kids.

And while you are at the docs get a kit to test for blood in your poop. When you start having visible blood in your poop you are in deep trouble with bowel cancer.

Every 6 monthly
checkup, doc would look at this mole and say, " It's behaving itself" then one day he says " No, that's changed" ----he cuts it out, the pathology says, Melanoma . All good because he got it real early. Get your skin checked

Believe me..
Age 59.... 1963-1970 lived on my surfboard ...every day every summer... occasional sunburn, had the 60's attitude "she'll be right"....NOT.
Progress to September 2016... over 3 week period had 8 BCC's cut out over face, arms and back, incisions up to 5 inches long......this second round, first lot removed in 1990... included major skin grafts on nose etc...
Thank God for good MOHS surgeons and new technology but it's a warning....please cover up!
Damage is done early, so please protect your kids now before it's too late

Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.

Im 36 and had a squamous cell
Im 36 and had a squamous cell carcinoma cut out of my nose 2 years ago. Skin graft taken from behind my ear and put back in. Nasty experience. I get checked every 6 months or so now. Don't want to go through that again.

I'm booked in for next
I'm booked in for next week.
Spent my first 40 years in the sun without any concerns, no suncream or covering up....the browner the better I thought.!!!
Now for the past 6 years I have been what they say "doing the right thing" , covering up and wearing sunscreen. To late maybe..... who knows.
All I know is that the older I get the more people I am close to are getting the news that no one wants to hear.
It really is something to take VERY seriously, it's never to late to start protecting yourself !!
My fishing spots are so secret........... even the fish don't know where they are !!
