SERVER UPGRADE COMPLETE - 4PM WEDNESDAY - EVERYTHING OK FOR EVERYONE?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2008-10-15 10:46
Hi Crew,
Short notice, but the site will be going into maintenance from 12.00pm WEDNESDAY on and off for the next 48 hours whilst we try and get the server movement sorted. If you can't reach the site, give it a go on this address: http://76.74.153.51/fishwrecked/
Hopefully everything will go smoothly and I apologise for any inconvenience to your browsing. Until then you may notice lots of CPU errors as I backup the data.
Cheers,
Adam

2 to 48 hours
Cheers Col, can be between 2 and 48 hours, but likely to be 6-8 or there abouts. The DNS has already adjusted in America and will hopefully mean that we aren't too far behind. Once the DNS has changed we will put a redirect on this address and put up a note that you can access fishwrecked.com from the standard web address.
Hopefully anyone that hasn't tried to log in today and does tomorrow won't even notice that anything has happened. :)

Ok, Cheers Ads
Yeah, used to take 3 days for world wide visibility when I did DNS changes at Telstra - but that was domestic Domain Name Servers.

yup
Not doing anything wrong mate, just the site can't do both of them at once. To get them into your gallery you have to put them up individually. Will have a look and see what can be done, but I'm pretty sure you have to do both. :(

Not sure if someone already said this, but on latest content I prefer it when it has the times of last post, just makes it easier to see new and old.

Adam, another idea might be
Adam, another idea might be some other indicator of how long its been since the last post was made in a forum section? Perhaps subtly graduate the colours used for weeks (light blue), days, hours & seconds (blue-black)?
I also can't remember if we ever discussed the search function. Can we limit it to sections of the website?

Looks good
Of course i was putting in a long winded comment to a post probably at the exact moment the server went down thus saving you all a period of extreme boredom having to read it.

fishwrecked.com is BAAAAAAAAACK!!
You guys should now be able to reach fishwrecked from the standard fishwrecked.com address. Let me know if you can't, but you should be able to drop that other numbered site address from here on in.
Cheers,
Adam

Sexy
That DNS change was faster.
Just when I was getting used to the new name, I thought http://76.74.153.51 was pretty sexy and was going to even order a boat sticker

Solved
Solving it right now. The issue is that you are using www.fishwrecked.com and signing into that when all the the links on that side are fishwrecked.com, so when you click on them it logs you out. We are now redirecting it so that you will automatically be redirected from www.fishwrecked.com to fishwrecked.com which will alleviate this log out problem. Should be fixed, let me know if you have this problem again.

Opinion required
Hi Til, Thought about your idea, will put it on the list but not sure how we will go with it as it's likely to be pretty server intensive.
Also, What do you guys think about the Random image? Would you prefer to see a random image or take it off, I know some people get pee'd off having to see old photo's get brought up in the latest comments section, but it also does serve to show some good old photo's which haven't seen before. What do you guys think about it, stay or nay?

Random Images
Personally, as I haven't been a member from the early days, I like to see random images pop up - there's been some intersting images/threads I would have missed otherwise. But I won't die if they dissappear.
I agree, it does get a bit frustrating when a 2 year old pic is 'reignited' - especially if the original poster is no longer around.
Is there any way you could automatically lock an image post (unlockable by you/mods if warranted) perhaps if it reaches a certain age?
That way you'd have the best of both worlds and keep both camps happy - you'd have the random images but prevent 'reignitions'?
My 10c.
