seabreeze.com

i dont normally use the seabreeze site, but a friend rang and told me to check out sat/sun.

how accurate is the 7 day outlook normally?

i always check that night or in the morning before i head off, as we all know it can change just like that.

maybe i should be using this site a bit more.

cheers

weather

There is a post somewhere (use the search engine) that has some good beach cameras.

I use various sites,  the beach cameras/ sea breeze, weather buoy, and the BOM to get a better picture.

Anyone else have any decent weather sites?

no site is ever going to be 100% accurate but seabreeze is good most the time and buoy weather. if it gives 3 days like that then chances are it will be ok to head out

my take!

Mon, 2010-02-01 22:44

7 day Seabreeze.com forecast doesnt really mean much as its allways changing but a guide. It's not until the 48hour is closer to that day (so really 2 days forecast) is it more 'accurate". The 7 day forecast often brings "hollywood" days at the end of the 7 days...keeps you re-visiting!!!

BOM err's on the side of caution and often gets the offshore winds more accurate!

I use both and often draw a line in the middle to get half accurate info!

A Seabreeze.com check the night before and seeing what the currents winds are doing helps when judging the accuracy and the morning forecast/double check a must...works for me!

Seabreeze isn't too far off the mark here.I use a combination of it and BOM and some times cheat and talk directly to the head meteorologist here so as not to get the two area forecasts overlapping===NW cape to Cvon and Cvon to Kalbarri

Seabreeze is not too bad for my landbased planning

Tue, 2010-02-02 08:25

as it doesn't matter as much if it is a bit off. However, I would be reluctant to do any long range planning with it if I was going offshore.

Seabreeze

Seabreeze generally changes by the minute, I will only look at Seabreeze after I have been out to see exactly what the winds did during the day. I look at Buoy weather as I have found them to be fairly good and ultimately BOM local waters, but I would never trust a forecast any more than 12 hrs out. I still base my decision on the BOM's 4.30am update to go or not, probably not so crucial if only going short distances out.

Ron, I generally fish at least 40kms offshore and need favorable conditions to do so. Everybody on my boat is my responsibility so being vigilant is the only way for me. I've never been one to take chances.
