Samson Fishing Trip.

Hi,
I'm from West Malaysia, I've read much about Samson jigging in Perth.
Appreciate someone can share with me how much does it cost (individual and group charter) for samson fishing in Perth? And how to go about? Thanks.
Cheers,
Kenneth.

Its usually around $150 a day per person, alltho if you want a more private trip its could be more (i.e instead of 12 people going out for the day you only take 6 of your friends etc) in which case its a fair whack more, but you do get more jigging time in!
Its the end of the samson season now but theres still a few around, 2 charters i can recommend are Shikari and Bluejuice. Usually around late october/november the sambos start to congregate in big numbers so anywhere from then up until around now is a good time to go.
"Honsu" is the man to speak to about jigging, im sure he will reply to this post soon enough and correct/define what ive said :P

Hi Ken
Hi Ken,
Like Shizz has said, the samson season is pretty much over until next year and charters usually are $150 per person.
I would advise you to steer clear of bluejuice charters for jigging now as they have increased the amount of people they have jigging at one time. It will be chaos and they have also lost their 2 best deckies as a result of these changes... $$$ ...
I would definately recommend Shikari charters but they have an established local client base. I would suggest if you wanted to book with them you do so well in advance. I will have a look around for other boats that do sambo jigging and get back to you on what they offer.
Cheers,
Adam

yeah....I'm the "goto man"
yeah....I'm the "goto man" now apparently.....but seriously....sambo jigging is seriously fun and $150 would be the cheapest fare in town....if you can find them now...
Shikari is a great charter and an almost skipper to hang around with....provided U supply him with the BLACK cans.
Shikari take group bookings of upto 8ppl. All gear supplied and his gears are the best there is, some of which are not even available here. Its not just sambos that U can jig. There are other fish out there that would take jigs. He reccomend me to try winter to jig for snapper, dhuies and skippies. So will be booking with me soon for a winter jig. When you are ready to go, let me know I have a heap of days booked with him next season or you can join me in a couple of months.

very interested
sounds reasonable...$150++, what's inclusive? normally you guys arrange for day trip or more?
As for gears, I have my own gears...but when it comes to jigs...most of time I've to pay for the excess baggage.
what's the depth to work your jigs for sambo? I'm assuming minimum 250g to 300g jigs....
how far to travel from peer to the fishing spot? how's the fishing time like?
Cheers,
Kenneth.

jigging
The Depth is anywere from 200metre wrecks to 100metres, the current out there is running coz of the strong luewin current we are getting at the moment but at the start of the season 150gm jigs can easly get down to the 100m depts. At the moment 250gm -300gm would be the way to go and i would be using turkey sliders to get down to the depth fast so your not jigging on to much of a angle,as far as the derwent in 200m 400gms jigs the only way to go.
As far as jigs go avoid the excess baggage and pick them up in perth there as little as $12aus.
The grounds are 1 hour from port on a comftable cruise of 20knots.

yeah U can bring your jigs over just go minimum and stick to the mid size to large ones....anything between 300 and 600gm ( for those rough days and yes I do use a couple of 600gm+ )
Bolts has got all the info right there. He supplies everything, except lunch. So its BYO lunch and beer...
