Just sold mine, would have thought it would be a fairly weightly reel for plastics fishing. I use a Shimano Aspire and Twin Power for that sort of thing.

JMO, but these are a good popping or jigging reel. I've got a HotRod for sale that was a great rod matched with the Z4500.

Saltiga 80TN and the Smith GTK 7'0 or 7'4 are nicely matched to the 4500 for casting...

Oh no, the dreaded "and". The problem is jigging and popping require quite different rods. You can get one to do both somewhat ok, or do one good and the other mediocre, but not both good for the majority of situations. A popper rod needs a different action and longer and the jigger you want more progressive action and less length. You could get away with something that could do both, but it wont really excel at either. E.g. something 7' (but wont cast that far, but not too bad, and wont be that comfortable jigging, but not too bad). Bones gave some good suggestions for popping rods.

Which are you doing more often? Popping LB or boat only. Also, got a budget?

Pretty much agree with Matt,

Pretty much agree with Matt, popping and jigging are together about the two least likely uses for any rod. Popping needs to be long and a fast taper, jigging needs to be short and very slow taper.
