Rod to suit Saragosa 18000
Submitted by connors on Tue, 2010-12-07 14:25
G-day all
Just purchased a saragosa 18000 spooled with 80lb braid and now im just looking for a rod to suit. Ive got a t-curve 200 and have been really impressed with that, anyone used or own a 400 and what did they think of them?
Any suggestions would be great
Cheers Connors

got a xzoga jig rod that I have for sale that would suit and is a step up from the tcurves(i still use an old original 200 as my overhead bait fishing stick). I think the 400 is pretty ordinary in comparison to the 200. Xzoga is rated PE8. $250.

other options
Simon is spot, the blank action on the 200 is fine but the 400 isnt flash. The blank locks up (not parabolic) when folding and there's better rods indeed.
Other options, for around the $200 mark you can look at Silstar Crystal Blue, Ugly Stik Bluewater series and Gladiator XOS Skeleton rods.
For around $400 (special price) you can look at the Jigging Master OceanGod 400 rod.

Xzoga for $250 is still a better rod than the above options for the money, but all the above are good options for the Saragosa. Xzoga is lighter and better components than the daiwa and probably comparable to the JM I would guess(would that be right Honsu)?

I haven't used any of the options listed here as I have used the deep jig 200 and 400 spins extensively. The comments here about the 400 compared to the 200 are pretty close to the mark. I like the 400 which I have my Saltiga expedition on but it does not perform as well as the 200. Having said that I liked the Jigwrex even less which is why I went back to the 400 after using the jigwrex on a number of trips first.
You guys have opened up a can of worms here, I may have to get myself one of these Xzoga or jigging master rods!!
