Rod to match Calcutta 700

I'm thinking of getting myself a calcutta 700 for Chrissy as I'm really missing a medium sized combo from my arsenal. Any one got a rod recommendation for me that will suit it nicely, is quality and won't break the bank too much.

Cheers,
Adam

Cheers rajamundi, was thinking along the lines of a live fibre. Spose if I'm going to get a quality reel may as well back it up with a quality rod.

Yeh, thinking in the 8-12kg range around the 7ft mark, not too big for the boat, but enough sensitivity to use for free floating baits and enough strength to hold an 8-12 weight sinker easily so I can use it for 30-40m + bottom bouncing.

Got no problems with level winds Jay, well, never had a problem with the ones I've had. Used a mates 700 a while back and really liked it.

As for the bass live fibre, not a huge fan of overly stiff rods, want medium levels of sensitivity, but not too much that its bent in half just dragging an 8 or 12oz sinker and bait.

Ok, to stimulate discussion more, what would be an equivalent reel, similar size and charactersitics to the Calcutta 700 that you guys would recommend?

I'd go the torium over a calcutta, just personal prefference though as I'm not a real big fan of level winds unless it's for barra fishing.

Yeah no doubt I'll make the short trip up to hedland next year Raja as my uncle lives there, what's your boat like? Can you get out real wide?
