Redoing floor surface in fibreglass boat
Submitted by whipasswaverunner on Sun, 2012-06-24 22:30
I plan on redoing the finished surface on my boat floor. At the moment I have a light grey colour flow coat with roller texture to give a bit of grip.
What do others on this forum have on their boat or seen on others.
I don't want to go to carpet.
Have anyone here heard of tredgrip, it's painted on and has rubber particles in to provide grip.
Any help with info would be great.
Cheers

Looked at tredgrip awhile
Looked at tredgrip awhile ago, havent gone down that path yet. I did however find a slightly cheaper paint called Easytread which is the same product , can be purchased from phoenix paints unit 1, 79 Forsyth st O'Conner, theyve been making it for years and l was recommended this product by afew paint shops. Was around $130 for 4 ltrs and you will need afew coats.

I've got the tubular mate
I've got the tubular mate from Clark rubber, cut into sharp around the console and very cushy for the feet, not hot in summer and uv resistance.

Carpet
I don't want carpet just becuase I hate a smelly boat with blood and guts that doesn't come out when cleaning. But for comfort like doing cruises yea I would go carpet.
I am going to check out Easytread down at Phoenix Paints.
Any other suggestions and tips?
Cheers

I agree on the carpet - it
I agree on the carpet - it stinks like hell if you get too much gore on it.
So long as you dont fish bait it isnt too bad - but I wouldnt have it if it wasnt on the boat when I bought it.
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Normal paint an throw some
Normal paint an throw some shot grit in it while it's drying is pretty much just clean sand and then paint over it that way you only need 2 coats and if your using 2pack like you should it lasts forever that's what we used to do on the boats and it's cheaper as well
