Pinkies on plastic

Been reading up on this pinkies on soft plastic trick the east coast guys have been bragging about.

Found a few fish in the burley trail over the weekend, so cut off the snelled floater and tied on a rubber shad. White one didnt get a touch but a few minutes of bounching a red/pink one we came up tight. Big grin

Shads

Mon, 2005-11-14 12:50

Can't believe the amount of fish that are being caught on those shads at the moment..
From the dhuies on FWA, to your pinky, to the mutant sambo honsu caught.. All different sorts of environments and different fish species.. crazy stuff, might have to pick myself up a few of those..

Never been a big artificial fan, but certainly starting to reconsider my existing views..

Pinks

Were you catching them on bait as well?  Or did they only fire up once you started jigging around and stirring things up a little?

Yep I was a bit sus, but

Yep I was a bit sus, but after reading so much about crew doing it...well had to mix it up a bit. Dont recommend using a rod lighter than 4kg though...they sink quiet quickly so you have to keep the action going.  other wise you end up with a sore wrist from a light whippy rod. I end up using my 7kg baitcaster with 9kg gelspun

Nah had the bait out first...with lots da burley...that Champion Bay cray juice is the go!!!

Nailed a couple of little ones around the 35-39cm mark...had one follow another up so thought here we go lets give these rubbers a go....only got one before the little trevors turned up...

the Trevs couldnt get the mouth around the rubber....just bumped it...hook is on the rubbers back...

Sweet

Interesting.. Might have to buy a few to keep in the tackle box incase we get some schooling fish around next time we go out..

Do you think using soft pastics (bream size) would have a better catch rate?  rather than the bigger shads? for the snapper?

Pinkys on SP

Sat, 2005-12-03 18:54

Hi Adam,

I've found over the last 5 years that all size SP work on pinkys, however after so many captures we went even smaller....testing our skills ie 1.8kg bream gear and had sucsess!

We do nail plenty of fish, Palumbo's biggest on 1.8kg (true bream gear) is just over 7kg, mine just under 7kg, we've hooked a lot bigger but cant stop em.

Using 4-6kg we've stopped 10kg fish on SP, metals and LH jigs.

Been doing well of late with artificial, especially during the day!

Cheers

Rubbers

Wed, 2005-12-07 13:46

Had landed a couple more fish with these rubbers.....colour is more important IMO than size....I got some 5" Pink Eyeballs sent over from Vic.....snapper lollies.

Then again we have got one on a pearl snapback..

My mate has landed pinkies with me on Atomic tails ....in jelly prawn I think they were called...only slightly weight so you can flick them.

Havent landed anything over 4kg yet ....baby dhuies like them as well especially those R2S shads in pinky purple....

PINK ON PINK and that aint no porno title shizz...
