Cmon fellas, I can't be sending another DVD off to spooled for winning picture of the month. Surely those marlin pictures must be worthy, or how about a good dhuie or two, even a shallow water sambo? Not long before it closes up, make sure you get your votes in. :)))

Monthly DVD

Tue, 2006-06-20 19:11

What is the DVD this month anyway Ads. I dont want another one of your old Xmas home videos as a prize. ;-) Just jokes, there are some awesome pictures this month and Uncle Bruiser Im sure will make his run for the finish line.
I must admit Matty's Marlin is a hard one to go past. I wish that I can pose for a similiar photo during the Exmouth trip this July. Alot of work to do between now and then.
Bring home the Mulla's. ;-)

I know this has been discussed on previous forums and i do hope one day soon that I have to make the decision about bringing such a fish (MARLIN) on board for a photo. I know it would only be for a minute of very quick camera shots but how long do they usually take to get the oxygen pumping through the body again.
I would be too worried I think that it wouldn't survive. Great to hear the it was released successfully. Any tips on a successful release because i think i would love a quick snap with such a wonderful fish if it ever happened. Fingers crossed!!

Yeah true, when releasing the bigger barra we swim them with our thumb in their mouths and our forefinger and index finger under their bottom jaw. When they start to bite down hard on your thumb they're ready to go ;)
Obviously, marlin are bit more difficult to handle lol :)

Releasing fish

If you have a deck hose then you can stick it in it's gob till you are ready for the pic , out with the hose , snap , snap , snap , back in with the hose , clear away and then get the fish back in the water , remember to cover it's eye's with a wet cloth as long as you can as the air and sun causes massive damage quickly in a fish eye's when there eyes dry out .
