Ocea jigger or Saltiga 15h

Any thoughts on which is the better jigging reel

Shimano's Ocea Jigger 1500hg or Daiwa's Saltiga 15h ?

Awesome reels that don't break the bank

i have the 15h-sj it has the t bar handle as standard, I'm loving it so far, ultra smooth drag and feels nice in your hand. Holds nearly 400m of Pe 2.5 as well.

+1 Saltiga...

Tue, 2016-11-15 17:54

...chose it over the OJ only because my local tackle shop had one for $100 less than anywhere else (I think they f'd up), and same price as digitaka, without shipping/warranty issues.

Can't fault it so far...it's my PE3 setup. Only caught a few small sambos on it. I did see some negative feedback on it on Japanese Anglers Secrets, but I get the feeling that he hates any reel that's not Shimano.

I like the saltiga, only one

I like the saltiga, only one year warranty though, but i do like the balance better than the oj.

Now that i bought the saltiga I need to match the rod for a bit of slow pitch jigging later in the year

What rod are you guys using ? Personally I am looking for a rod that is softer in action. Using the slow jigging techniques

Ocea jigger or Saltiga 15h

We stock both, they are nice reels indeed and it comes down to personal preference.

Some good information above from people that use them.

Poseidon evergreen - now

Sat, 2016-11-19 01:08

Poseidon evergreen - now that's a nice rod, but 800 bucks , holy crap that's expensive am going to try for 2nd handy but i doubt i will pick one up.

I matched the oj and salty on the same rod and the salty just felt better balanced, kinda not leaning over when held softly, plus the free spool lever just felt nicer to use and maybe the reel had an even a stronger feel to the oj, they are a small reel and am looking forward to giving it a whirl though.

Been a shimano man forever but thought what the heck, never know if i never give it a go.

 ....and not sure if the OJ does it...absolutely love how the reel goes back into gear when you wind the handle, like a baitcaster. A very nice feature when jigging. Although it is potentially one more thing that can break!;
