Not fishing but fun part 2

Some of you may remember my report from last year on our prospecting trip. Well we did better this year due to much more research (geologist reports, soil sample results etc). The research put us in the right area and we got lucky. cheers Pete   PS The big one is pure gold, the brown is dirt. It weighed 518 grams (18.5 ozs)  about $30 000 all up. happy days

your right. Theres 2 ways you can do it. Work the known patches for bits people have missed, or try to make your own luck on virgin ground like we do. With our technique, the rewards are far greater, but the success rate is less. The similarities to fishing in this regard are uncanny. cheers Pete

nice work man, certainly

nice work man, certainly sounds just like fishing. Put in the hours, research, time... and with a bit of luck it pays off.

Out of curiosity what do you do with the gold? I imagine it would be sold on to cover the costs but it would also be nice to have a big piece framed in the pool room. Probably more practical to have it in a safe lol

I hope it wasnt near Leinster!!!

Thu, 2011-05-19 12:05

Years ago I worked in Leinster, and had a bunch of mates coming up for a visit from Perth. Planning on going for a bit off detection. Got the Fitters at the old LNO to make me up some brass "nuggets" and the guys took to it and created some masterpieces. Scattered it in an area, and thats where we went.

Should have seen the faces of my mates finding bloody big nuggets (NOT) all over the place. Reactions all recorded on a CamCorder. Wasn't until the night when the secret was lubricated out and all hell broke loose.

Was fun reliving the moment on the Video, because I am sure there is no feeling like the feeling of getting a nice nugget. LMAO still.
