I've never seen anyone launch there. Very steep drop off that creates powerful dumpers. I got faaaarken smashed body surfing there once.
My uncle lives in Waroona but drives to Dawesville to access the reefs off Preston. There's beach launching facilities at Melros Beach which is around 5km closer.
Depending on the size of your glass boat I would be wary of launching at Melros. I reckon it's easier to do the extra Kay's than being bogged down there. Most only launch tinnies there. You can also launch a tinnie or smallish runabout at tims thicket as well as its sheltered from the swell.
yeah ive seen the same. unless you've got access to a tractor i wouldnt be launching anything bigger than a 4.5mtr dingy. ive seen people pretty bogged there. plus the extra 5 kays gives me more time for one more beer.
Preston has a few nice shore dumpers. I have been victim in the zodiac before I even got out! With recent winter fronts it may be a bit steep.
Allegedly you can beach launch at Myalup to some success.
If you have a large vehicle pending your boat size you could launch at Tims Thicket. Whilst you do gain 10odd kms you can run the risk of becoming easily bogged. I have seen small boats launched there but not often. The same goes for Melros
The extra drive will be all worth it rather than being bogged up to the eyeballs and wished you stepped in a large dog nard.
It all comes down to your own risk assessment. My view small boat small risk. Bigger boat bigger risk usually bigger comfort when on water
