Minn kota mount to glass boat

After speaking to the local fibreglass team, said I'd be crazy to sell the haines, so going to spend the money doing her up. Has anyone installed / found a mounting bracket to install minn kota onto an glass surface on the bow with bow rail? I've done some googling and seen the below which looks ok, but chasing any other ideas / suggestions of off the shelf mounts vs fabricating up or ?

On secondary, also considering getting the new soft decking / u deck / deck armour. Anyone know if it would stand up to the dog claws / paws as she comes with for the 7 months of the year before its too hot. Whilst I expect to treat it mean fishing wise, not sure if its tough enough to handle the dog / anyone else take the furry friend with and know if it stands up before spending good money to try make it a bit more comfy for the missus.

Cheers

Adam

Not sure on glass mount but mines a split bow rail and the kotta side is shortened with the nice bends ect so looks nice and blends in.sorry no pics as mines not built yet.As for deck armour i couldn't find a lot about how robust it is when you get a bit rough with it but they tell me not much of a problem with hooks sticking so the hound probably ok.I'm winging it and getting it put in

yeah same, you need to drill

yeah same, you need to drill holes regardless, seems less involved and cleaner if you wanted to remove it.

Ditch the rail

Sun, 2023-10-15 04:01

If you're going to be sprucing the boat up ( excellent idea :) remove the rail and have a custom Fibreglass mount made, it will make the boat look way, waaay cleaner. I've removed the rail on my old centre console and it was the best thing for the boat. The Sharkcat had the same treatment and it removed 32 potential areas for water to get into my bed in the front cabin. Nickol boats should be able to help you out?. Failing that drag it to Darwin and I'll do it for you.

Nickol

Nickol bay are doing it. Trying to decide on just cropping out a section of rail or removing altogether. Yup think I'm going the custom mount, looking at 1000-1500 by sounds.

Will find out soon enough, there's nothing but superficial work really - no structural.

If that's who I am thinking it is there is a pretty simple explanation why.

Horror

Sat, 2024-02-17 20:21

You were absolutely right Dodgy, my story has been nothing but horror.

Took 3 months to get the boat back, now having rework done at my own expense elsewhere. Not game enough to take it back.

Sun, 2023-10-15 12:03

I actually did an ali mount for one of the guys off here for his glass boat, worked out really well. We cut out a section of the rail to get it to work.

i saw some pics of a mount

Mon, 2023-10-16 08:54

i saw some pics of a mount that west coast boatworks did for a mnin kota on a caribean 2300 that looked good. think it was on the caribean 2300 page on facebook.

i ws recenlty looking at th deck armour/udeck for the new boat, but i hear a few reports of melting in the sun being an issue, esp with very reflective/whit fibreglass.

also apparently rips etc forom craypots, so dog claws may be an issue.

never had it myself, this is just what i heard when looking into it.
