Link 585 to GP1971F to use mark button
Submitted by stevo58 on Sun, 2023-10-08 16:46
Hi all,
Just after some advice to link my 585 to my gp1971f unit so I can use the Mark button on the 585 to place a mark on the plotter (gp1971f unit).
i have heard I just need a furuno data cable NMEA 0183 to link them together. Has anyone had luck this way? I was also reading up on the Markfish units as another option, though this may be more expensive.
Do I need a NMEA 0183 to 2k cable ,Was my other query.
Cheers
Steve

Interested
Really interested to see if there is an answer to this one Stevo58. I've been told that the GP1971F is designed as a "stand alone" unit and can't be networked or linked with any other units, even another GP1971F.
Would love to be told otherwise.
Cheers,
BD.

I also got in touch with Rhys
I also got in touch with Rhys and also spoke today to Ash at Taylor Marine. Big thanks to both as it works.
Spent an hour today following the cheat sheet from Ash and Rhys. Was pretty straight forward and looks to be working beautifully. Thanks again Ash and Rhys. Now I'll see if I can post a pic of the sheet for you Browndog so you can sort your 585.
