LAND BASE SNAPPER

hey i was just wondering if any one could help me out with ideas on what rigs to use when land base snapper fishing. i was down at the mole on wednsday fishing for snapper during the little storm that came in and saw a few people down there using padinoster rigs.. i was just using a rig i use for bottom fishing but i kept getting snaged and lost alot of gear. any help would be apricated cheers

 ive never done it, but if i did i would use a paternoster rig with the dropper loop a meter off the bottom, so there less chance of getting snagged. and only cast it out 15ish meters from the rocks.

im sure someone whos actually done it can give you a hand

You get snagged there from time to time. A little trick which might help, when you start reeling in, try to lift the weight as vertically as you can and start fairly fast, so you don’t drag the rig on the bottom. I usually fish closer to the disabled platform and it’s not too bad for getting snagged.

 I use casting sinkers and 7/0 gama circles with blue mackerel. Have picked up a fair few in recent years using this rig. If your fishing north mole, fish the north side. you do get fish from the southern end side but you will snag up easily like you realised.

yea i was fishing into the mouth of the river because of all the pixs i'v seen of people catching snapper i'v only ever seen then catch em from this side
