Jurien Trip this weekend
Well guys, leaving the boat home this weekend and heading up to Jurien to fish the weekend with Whitey together with TimVb and a few lads from work. Got both Sat and Sunday booked. Plan is for a mix of jig, softies and if necessary (read failure of previous) stinking bait......
Taking the 50 lb Stella/Seed jigging outfit, 15 lb Tierra 4000 spin for softies and 20 lb Calcutta 400 O/H for octo's/lucanus and heavy softies and light jigs. Got usual selection of Smiths/Williamson jigs for Samberjacks, a bunch of gulp 5 and 7 inch and snapbacks and a 6 and 10 inch mcarthys plastics with jig heas from 0.5 to 4 oz......
Am waiting for a few fankies etc from the web....looks like they wont make it in time.............
Weather is looking great Sat (10 knots), terrible Sunday (20 knots). Question is.....is 20 knots to much in Whitey's tug......we wont care if it is wet and rough.....just want it fishable...
Responses welcome, and any advice and tackle/jigs and anything else you guys who have been up with Whitey.
Cheers
John

20knts isnt too bad up there
20knts isnt too bad up there if the wind is blowing in the right direction. sounds like you have got it all sussed as far as gear goes. now to get the gear wet and into some fish. from recent posts you shouldnt have any probs on the fish side.

Its a huge boat, but it probably means you will be baiting, if you don't get a break in the weather.

20 knots
20 knots is bugger all to a boat that size so if I was you I wouldn't be too concerned. When it is above 25 then it can get a bit sloppy.
Enjoy your charter and looking forward to the report.

Mate, I've been up there the
Mate, I've been up there the last 2 weekends in a row and can recommend the following tips:
*3000 - 5000 sized spinning reel
*heaviest line rating 40lb
*PE 1-3 jigging rod
*flick rod for working plastics with 2 - 4oz jig heads.
*lightest jig head is 2oz. 4oz worked well as the current was strong both times. Anything less than 2oz will only get you tangled or see your plastic drifting 20m behind the boat.
*BYO beer and food - don't forget to pack your lunch
*Baits and Gulp attract the smaller fish. You may get quantity, but not quality. The fish of the day were both caught on jig and Mcarthy plastic.
*90 - 120g jigs. For best selection and advice - NOR visit 'The Fishing Shop' in Woodvale, SOR visit 'Oceanside Tackle'.
*Get Whitey to show you how to work the light jigs properly. My mate copied his style and caught a 70cm queen snapper on a 120g Fanky jig.

The Fishing Shop left a
The Fishing Shop left a message on my phone to say that their Fanky jig stock has been replenished today.
Des has also made me up 3 of his new custom made, colour coded octa jigs. Don't forget to check them out too.
They also stock the new Nitro 2 and 4oz jig heads. They come in lumo and red. Big jig head with silver eyes and it has a split ring attaching the hook. Very good concept for better movement of the plastic.
