Ignorance!!

Well after reading about ignorant fisherman, I experienced it firsthand my self last night.

Went for a Tailor session with the brother and a mate. parked our vehicle and walked 1/2 a kilometer along the deserted beach and set up. Commenced fishing, then had 3 fellows join us. They stopped 10 meters away from us, no welcome, no socials!! The beach was deserted!! Just us, yet they felt compelled to fish right beside us. I was furious. To top it off, after they left, I found their beer bottles discarded in the sand. Got back to the carpark and found more discarded plastic bags.

Went for a drive and found them in another fishing area and calmly explained they shouldn't leave their rubbish behind.

I am amazed as to why they needed to fish with us in our back pockets! What gives?Undecided
regards

Willy,

Oh yeah, caught 4 nice tailor

That pisses me off no end.  My g/f is a volunteer litter officer, anyone we see littering gets the details taken (car rego, date, time, offense) and a citation (sp?) gets sent as a result.  Theres not much I hate more!  Good onya for saying something Willy.

like your wording.....

Sun, 2009-01-11 10:45

calmley talked to them..... pineapple express I trust...ha ha

but recommend dobbing the buggers in because there is an Act called the Litter Act which as Adam indicates does have infringment notices for "on the spot fines."

you can register at Keep Australia Beautiful. I am an enforcement officer for DEC.

smoke butts piss me right off. But a $75 on the spot fine does apply for smoke butts........

Could tell you mobs of similar stores when I am out remote camping/4WD.......all that country and people gota camp in my pocket......most frustrating...

We get that too, same

Sun, 2009-01-11 11:22

We get that too, same problem at the Cut last night, fish on top of me, next to me on both sides. maybe they think your onto a feed of fish, some people cant handle the fact you could catching all the fish in that spot. that's why they park right next to you.

I've had people go off at me as well for throwing fish back, like we did last night, got ask why I threw it back and I kindly explained that the Tailor were under size and I don't want to have to pay a fine for under size fish.

I think alot of us have the same problem, at lest all of us are doing the right thing.

Narrows

Sun, 2009-01-11 11:39

Went for a fish under the narrows last night, or as close as i could get to it anyway cos it was packed.  We got there about 7.30 and had a spot about 20m from the bridge where there was room.  So all the late comers set up around us then proceded to cast over our lines resulting in a few tanglesFrown

was good to see that juvenile black bream where in plague proprtions at certain periods of the night.Smile

Unfortunately some of the people fishing had forgotten the size limits as many where going into buckets which was really dissapointing to see.Frown

No Tailor or anything else to report although heaps of crabbers about, didint see them pull any although the little buggers were harrassing my mulloway bait.

I hate it when

Sun, 2009-01-11 12:36

your on the beach fishing (especially in Leeman) nobody for miles, put my chair down, drink, smokes, cast, settle myself down, next minute damn beach buggies coming at me at 80klm a hr.  have to grab the dog, chair, rod, smokes & run, they don't slow down, roar past, hubbie letting them now in true truckie language what for, then about a hour later have the cheek to come back and roar past. No seatbelts, kids hanging on for life.  I now I'm getting old but fair suck of the sausage.  Where ever we go off the beaten track, only leave our footprints & penny's little ones, god I even pick her poo up when she does one.Cool

Good onya Willy

Sun, 2009-01-11 13:31

Yeah, maddening as hell. Used to cop that a lot shore fishing from the groins in Perth and deployed my secret weapon - my wife. When she's casting a sinker, she's more dangerous that 10 p*ssed off SAS guys with AK47s Laughing. Same deal out on the water (though down here, it's not so bad).

Good onya mate for the education lession - fetid pigs!

That is one of my pet hates, especially in the siuation you describe where there is plenty of space and they come and fish next to you. And to leave rubbish behind - ggggrrrrrrrrrrr

Wheres the pride

Sun, 2009-01-11 15:47

We should be proud of our coastal environment, we are lucky and privelaged to have it.

Most metro fishing spots have bins in the car parks, what's so hard about taking your rubbish and putting it in the bin as you leave?

If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

is more rubbish than fish - it is amazing the amount of bait bags i pick up at points around Geo Bay - mostly from the jetty and boats i would think.

Fishing supposed to be stress free!

Mon, 2009-01-12 09:47

but when you have to put up with such selfish ( stuff you mate ) attitudes it makes your blood boil. its not just on the shore either. Quite often get purposely buzzed by trail bikes & find caches of litter & empty beer bottles in otherwise pristine bush fishing spots. The bottles are not too bloody heavy to carry when they are full are they???
Fortunately there is an unwritten law among fly fishers on rivers: never encroach & fish someone elses pool or run unless invited.

I`d rather be fishin`!!!
