Old photo from a workmate back in his hey days at Christmas Island. Doggie caught from a tinny. He was fishing for reefies with 150lb handline and was catching a few when this baby decided he wanted his trout more than he does. 1hr+ later and a hand from another 2 guys from a tinny.
Guess its weight....

Gonna say 250 pounds (113Kg's) so I was over the top!
Reckon the lil fella's holding it up make it look bigger than tis - (least thats my excuse!) ;o)
I wonder if he whistled "git along lil doggie" as he reeled it in?
Too embarrassed to post up my lil longtail now...
Course mine was on fly so it counts double!
But - you hafta think of a number and double it! he he he
Cheers!

That doggie was caught in the 80s and was on a handline.
Flywest, thats an awesome fish on fly. Must have gave ur knuckles a workout...hehe Im considering taking up fly fishing just to get into that kind of buzz....without my knuckles being bashed.
Just curious...wat wt gear is that? 8, 10?

Hi Honsu
Tis a 10 Wt Scott tactical 3 piece.
Fly is a buzz - very tactile way to fish (like a handline in a lot of ways), which is why it probably appeals to people the way it does.
I can soon teach to you fly cast or anyone else wants a few lessons just ask!
No knuckle dusting Honsue, the reel is anti reverse! (one of Terry Haydens!) i.e. spool turns to lose line but handle stays still - then when recovering line the handle turns - i.e only one way & no knuckle dusters!!

Good gear sure helps Honsu!

Good question Honsue.
And I don't know the answer...
something in the back of my grey matter tells me..that some local fella 'grist' mightta made a anti reverse fly reel years ago to - similar to the alvey I don't know...
Can't see why not - the actual mechanism isn't that complex..couple dogs n pawls, some teflon friction washers etc...not really that much too it actually!
Cheers!
