Garmin GPSMAP 7412xsv 12 inch For Deep Drop

Has anyone got any experience with these Garmin GPSMAP 7412xsv 12inch sounders with 1kw tranducer and chirp for fishing beyond 300m. I heard they might be a decent alternative to the Furuno 295 with 2kw tranducer for the money at around $5,000. Cant seem to find any reviews online at all from any fisho's. Only standard Garmin blurb. Any feedback would be great. cheers

I was looking at the same units, as you have said they are only 1kw. When using the chirp mode you have to turn the gain up very high thus giving you a shit picture on the deep stuff. In my opinion they have not got the chirp system workrd out yet, yhus all the updates you still have to  upload and put in the unit. They are a very good unit in shallow water using conventional transducers but remember they only push out  1kw. The GT51 transducer that you can use with this unit looks very good. I have used chirp alot and have gone back to conventional sonar waves for better deep dropping defintion of fish and bottom. As l said before good for 100 -200 mtr that's my opinon and good combo unit.

I'm running this setup with a 1kw 200hz tx, i havent seen it in action yet and I also have a gsd 26 with a cm599.

i was running a garmin 8012 with a 1kw pm265 through a gsd 26 and I could sound over 1000m without a problem at all, it was a almost crystal clear picture.

I will get a chance to run the new setup in the coming weeks with hopefully good feedback.

I have the 7607xsv with a tm265lm and have tested it on 650m and could get clear bottom reading. The problem I have is that it does lose the bottom very easily when rough.

For regular 250-350m fishing, I've been able to spot fish even in 15 knt breezes.
