Anydody got any tips for reading deep water. Having trouble finding any solid ground beyond 160m. When the sounder is tuned for deep water as soon as you touch the throttle the screen clutters. But this does not hapen in the shallow water wich makes me think it is not transducer location. Having more luck on 200khz than 50 thought that 50 was used in the deep? (7000f with 1kw transom mount)

Getting green clutter when
Getting green clutter when the throttle opens. Running on 200 when i change over to 50 the screen goes completley red then slowly starts to pick up bottom then when the throttle starts to open the screen goes red again. Good to here the unit can do what i want.

if its any higher than about 3or4 when moving in those depths you will just pick up noise

Only look at the bottom 20 metres
Go Range Manual - select 20 metre range - hit range and function keys and the up arrow to shift the column of water you want to lok at down until you locate the bottom then adjust gain for clearest picture ........in that way you avoid any and all surface clutter.
And yes do not run too much gain - again go into manual mode and wind it back
