Fishwrecked.com Exmouth Invitational 2010 - SATURDAY MAY 15th and SUNDAY MAY 16th
Come all ye fishwrecked members, the Exmouth Invitational competition will be on the SATURDAY MAY 15th and SUNDAY MAY 16th 2010.
Please make your accomodation bookings ASAP and come and join us for a fun filled adventure in the sunny fish filled waters of the Ningaloo reef. It would be best if people could book accomodation in town, or at the Lighthouse Caravan Park for convenient organisation of the 'initiation' and prizes night.
There will be a few changes to the rules for measuring fish this year, but not many. I will inform you of these later.
The competition fee will be $20 per person (an increase on last year to boost the prizes). All competition fees will go into the kitty for prizes, it is not for my profit, it is reward for you guys/girls making the effort to come up.
If anyone knows any organisations/companies that may like to sponsor the competition, please let me know, the more we have, the more you guys get when you win. :)
Any suggestions, please let me know. But hopefully you guys can make it, you have atleast 7 months to get sorted.
The fishwrecked.com Exmouth Invitational has a 4/5 star rating with NEATfish, the govt body regulating fishing competitions. (pending approval)
Cheers,
Adam

I'd just organise your own. Lime green would be nice - it will stand out and look good in photos.

prob not this year
Prob not this year Frank. Hopefully everyone will don their other fishwrecked gear, with so many individual pieces of merchandise its not really cost effective for me to do so. If the price of entry goes up next year then I will try and do it to incorporate a shirt for each competitor but still keep it reasonable. Hopefully everyone will recognise each other from stickers on the boats or other fishwrecked attire.

getting to be only around the corner now.
Just a reminder theres still plenty of time for new teams to join in and one another not to people interested in being a deckie for someone, dont forget to put your name down as a possibilty, might make some people decide they can go with building a crew up, as they say you never know, so its worth a try

Sad but true
I have a job offshore and I can't shuffle it due to limited bed spaces (they are doing drilling and maintentance simualtaneously) so bed space is at a premium.
3 meetings to move it were fruitless, so I am stuck with it.
Sucks, but that is life I guess.........there is always 2011!

Oh yeah
Sounds like Huggy may have got wind of the price rise before you got the call Matt, i recon there would have been a good reason for him to pull out, work yeah ok. Gunna miss his happy face around the camp. We just checked our accomidation price at the lighthouse & it to has gone up. Not as much as your "honeymoon suite", but a rise never the less. I'm sure we will all still have a good time & enjoy the company. Rob

money is far from the issue, in fact not even a slight issue.
I'm still not a happy camper, but that'll make me a more determined competitor in 2011........look out! And it also gives me another 12 months to buy more toys. Good times!

Increased prices
I guess as long as people are are going to pay the $ prices will continue to increase. Supply and demand. I don't know what you get (sorry got) in your chalet for your $1200 a week but the last few years we choose to rent a house in town. Lots of fridges and freezers a must have. Much further from Tanibiddy but we were launching from the marina anyway.

They know they have got you by the short and curlies and if you want to holiday in Exmouth you have got few other options. Don't expect any better courtesy from the Real Estate agents. Some of the worst customer service I've ever seen.

lol at whos counting, havent started that yet myself, got too much to do before then and it might stress me out haha.
personally for me i see this year the last year at the lighthouse caravan park from MY experiences this year, getting told my booking was being increased $720, then re booking another location in the park, and then next day finding out they double booked, and then being told the only other accomodation was going to be another $300 from what i re booked into.
Just way too much for me, they cant get it right, almost seems like they taking advantage of a full park and lining the pockets big time.
Apart from that got the crew sorted out now to finish getting all the boat set up and the new rods to be built !!
just dhu it

i dont know if the c prk is just cashing in but we were told that the price quoted was 2009 in October when booked and we were informed there were new prices for 2010, we have re checked now and been informed they have gone up $ 20 which i believe is exceptable over the two weeks we are staying there, however i find it pretty disgusting that Matts has been informed now that there is a huge price increase mainly for the lookout chalets. we have been going to the lighthouse park for the last ten years and have never experienced this price increase before, but when you assess how busy the park was last year and will be this year excluding the FW members, possibly they are making the most out of it, my mate has just booked a 4 bedroom house in town for $ 1600 for one week, previous years they were around $1200 so i think its the whole area is cashing in or meeting the market pricing in the current climate . the past few years we have been to Gnaraloo and the fantastic beachfront cottages for those who know what iam talking about were $ 90 per night now because some services have been upgraded they are charging up to $ 190 per night.
If you cant work in the well paid mine sites get into some hospitality areas because these people need R & R time some where

me!
I was staying at the Light House caravan Park for over 10 years straight and the price has just gone up & up but the accom hadnt changed at all. Now i stay in town with a full on house, 3 bedroom and very comfy for just over $1000 P/W!
I reckon, like already mentioned they're ca$hing in on being busy and the tourist love that destination so they can get that price!!
Closer to town, shops and spread of launching area's was enought to keep me in town with my many trips per year to Exmouth!

We thought about somewhere
We thought about somewhere different ,but the lighthouse is central to all ramps and having fuel is a bonus. We stayed at the caravan park near tandabidi the first year.was a nice spot closs to ramp ,but we had to tow the boat for fuel which was a pain .Great if you take your own jerries with you ,also most people are at the litghhouse .so no need to drive up to socialize.

i dont think it would matter where you are in exxy as prices would go up everywhere. yeah its a bit rough putting some prices up by so much but you could expect some sort of increase.
when it comes down to it , your still going to go away and make the most of the trip planned. just have to change the budget a bit( like less beer)

I am seriously considering
Hi All. I have decided I am keen to go, but would prefer to go as short a time as possible. If anyone has done the research and has found decent priced accommodation and either has room when driving up or can give me details on flights up there that would be awesome and would save me the research time. Cheers

Hel,
I may be one fisher short for the trip but i won't know untill closer to the date, having three on board will be easier than two. I guess this goes out to all and i will post here as well as a separate post if we are short.
We have a bungalow booked so accomodation will be available and pitching in for your share of the accomodation and everything else is appreciated and expected, just bring your fishing gear.

i'll have a 4.75m side console up there and staying at a house in town. if someone wants to join in my little boat and try for a fish that would be good. ive got heaps of trolling gear but very short on experiance with trolling. so id prefer someone that doesnt mind if we dont catch much. being in a house i have a spare bed or 2 - will jut need to chip in as im staying with other friends. (7 of us in a 10 bedroom house) . it has aircon and pool and all the sweet stuff (at $2500 a week it would want it)
