gday guys
ive been watching this forum for a while. im from the south coast of nsw and am making my way over your way in a couple of weeks. a mate is living in denham near monkey mia and im goin up fishin with him in the first week of november. he has an idea of the fishing up there but i just thought id ask you guys what to expect and what tackle i should pack. besides fishing out around shark bay etc i think we are hiring a boat to go fishing around dirk hartog.
so any tips with tackle, fishing spots, and what to expect would be appreciated.
hoping to maybe catch a big ol spanyard if i can or just something big and mean. but just looking forward to catching something different
anyway thanks

IMO 15 to 24kg trolling
IMO 15 to 24kg trolling outfit, 30lb bottom outfit for the reef species and a good 6 to 10kg spin outfit for some great tailor and mulloway action off the beach up there as well. A friend of mine lives up there as one of the managers of monkey mia and he said there getting shit loads of good shark mackies at the moment and the odd spanyid. Not too sure on the pink snapper season up there but theres ually heaps around to keep you busy offshore. Dont forget to take a snorkel and snare as theres some thumper blue manner crabs around aas well in the shallows. As for the dirk harthog option i dont think you will have much probs getting into all types off fish around there, ive been there about 6 or 7 times now at different times of the year and always get into great fish. I think Ryan from oceanside (site sponsor) has got some great spots around there he might want to share! :) Good luck
Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!

Wind
This time of year we have equinoxial gales up here. Strong south easterlies almost every day. We have had some unseasonally good weather lately but are back into those wind patterns today and for the next couple atleast and probably for a few weeks.
In November the spanish mackerel start running past Steep Point, so make sure you visit there and take appropriate gear. (you can generally spin for them with divers rather than having to balloon, but, balloons are always handy - as with helium)
Cheers,
Adam
