Just hold out till summer, crabbing and night fishing galore, im just gonna keep fishing scalies when i can and put it through a berley grinder and make a bucket load of chum.
ok then, why is it that i have caught something the last 4 times i have been out landbased? ranging from Bream to whiting to flaatties to tailor! so you dont class those big winter tailor as "worth it"? you dont class the really big squid as "worth it"?
bream, whiting, flatties boring fish, Tailor on the otherhand isnt too bad since i target those but there is more SOR during summer and SW winds blowing, Squid who says summer dont have big squid go to the river get the big ones.
so a 40cm bream is not worth it? pretty sure a 40cm bream will fight just as hard, if not harder around structure than a tailor of the same size will! you ever tried for whiting on surface lures before? and the buzz of getting a 40+cm flatty on lure is hard to beat!
Unfotunately i dont fish those fish with lures only bait and i skull drag them in instead of putting 2lb line on and letting it run ages, i know the rush of getting visual strike its a addicition of its own and is one of my fav forms of fishing, %90 of my squidding is done by visual strike,
ok then, i challenge you to skull drag a 40cm bream from structure with even medium gear. i dont see the point of using heavy gear (like you obviously do) to catch fish. lures are so much better than baits. in almost every way. mate, an 8lb combo can manage such a wide range of fish from whiting, bream, flatties right through to snapper on lures (if your lucky lol. stinkin' baitos
I dont use heavy gear and i dont fish structure and i have pulled in plenty of bream over 40cm at least 5 all females was using 8lb mono all the fights dont even last 30 seconds and the fish is to the shore,
how about you start to fish for fun as well as a feed? fishing the way you do is so unskilful. do you have any pictures of those bream? need to see a picture before i believe you.
i will take pictures for you next time alright princess, there are alot more people who caught bigger better fish and more skilled then most on the forum and never took pictures, well wait and see shall we since i picked up a camera not too long ago.
I enjoy fishing smaller fish with light gear and obviously for bigger fish you need the heavier gear. Big fish I mean sharks etc. I don't know why people bother using heavy gear for tailor. There such a great fish, and esp metro tailor, are great on really light gear just bait casting

Nothing really worth chasing until summer anyways, unless you go out on a boat.
