Fishing in Ontario, Canada?
Submitted by cuthbad on Wed, 2010-05-26 19:10
Hey all,
Im spending about a month in Canada near Niagara Falls from late June and wondering if anyone has any info about the fishing over there?
Im happy to travel a few hours if there are any decent charters in the area. Those sturgeons look like great fun but basically any chance to get some fishing in would be great. A friend of mine over there says he has some gear I can use but he hasnt fished in years. Any ideas?
Thanks

I'm actually getting married
I'm actually getting married in Toronto mid july. My fiancee is from near Niagra and her family have a cottage about two hours north of Toronto at a place called Muskoka (spell??)
Was there about three years ago and we caught a heap of Bass up that way and I beleive there are some great trout waters close by. Future father-in-law caught a pretty big pike of some sort as well. Great fun spinning from a canoe. There beer is pretty bloody good as well. Spending a few days up at the cottage straight after the weddding.
I'm sure there is some fishing available in Lake Ontario if you get out in a boat.
Will speak to the in-laws about that and let you know

Thanks mate, bit far
Thanks mate, bit far though.
Just trying to decide on a charter now, pretty expensive. Thinking of heading north a few hours and trying one there, $500 for the boat (up to 4 ppl) for a day, gear and bait provided. Might just pay it, wont be back this way any time soon, but jeez i could buy a heap of gear for that much back in perth

Do it.
A once in a lifetime sort of thing. I'd be doing it for sure.
