Hi,
I am going out tommorow morning, and was wondering how far i need to go offshore to get something decent. I have all the safety gear but no fishfinder?

you will struggle with out a fish finder
a good quality colour echo sounder is important to determine the difference between a hard bottom and a soft bottom strata - generally fish come from hard reefy ground - generaly beyond the 30m mark is where you will start to find dhuies black arse etc pinkies and skippy can be found a little closer - my advice is to look at a lowrance 67c for around the 500 dollar mark

how did you go?
how did you go ol yella?
I have just got a boat and have it down at Mandurah. Haven't been out yet, but plan to make a big change to that this weekend. I am thinking of putting a few empty tanks worth of juice into looking for some structures. (have to fit the new transducer first though - doh)
