yup i use a 8500 for jigging on my t curve 200 and its and awsome reel iv got about 300 metres of 80LB braid on it + another 100 metres of 50lb mono as backing. feel solid and handles well and also has good drag pressure. deffintly bang for buck beeing only about $220ish
too heavy and has a bad anti reverse, there good for bottom bashing and beach fishing but honestly i would hate to jig with one, add a few bucks extra and look into a shimano saragosa
I think if you were really desperate for line capacity, then the offshore's are good. That is if you seriously don't want to use an overhead tho lol. the offshore's are good for land based and bottom bashing i reckon
For Jigging, its worth spending the extra doe and buying a propper jigging reel like the saragossa.
i have opened them up before. nice main and pinion gears, huge drag washers...to say the anti reverse is bad is not right, it is sufficient- the anti reverse actuator spring is a lil light guage but would only cost 2 bucks to replace once ever few years, it just does not run a one way roller bearing- rather traditional a rev pawl setup...not the best for continuous jigging- a tad annoying, but to find a reel with similar drag at same price would be difficult...for there buck...they are sweet (if you dont mind a little weight)
