Exmouth fishing in January

Hey guys,

A couple of us were thinking of planning a fishing trip next jan to exmouth...i havent really been able to find much on what the fishing is like up there at that time of the year so i was wondering if any of the resident exmouth experts would be able to help us out!

As far as i'm aware the weather will be fairly hit+miss with glassed off days and pretty windy days, but what fish can we hope/expect to target in January? We'd love to try a bit of everything - trolling, bottom fishing, landbased, and popping...ideally we'd love to get some big macks, bottom fish, sharks, GT's and Sailfish - we dont ask for much!

We were thinking of trying around the Murion Islands either with a charter or with a hire boat...would that be the way to go?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Justin

it will be HOT!! with the mecury rarely dropping bellow 40.

Weather is your main enemy with winds  usually preventing getting out on the west side(where the reef is)

I was up there in Feb and managed to get stuck into some good tuna bottom fishing was limited to the shoals around the gulf. with most fish being sharked.

great time for billfish, beers and cyclones, but not always in that order - town is pretty quiet, when it fires it goes right off, but it is too inconsistant, hence why after four years of Jan trips I have pushed back a month to end of feb/march.
