I have been there a few times for a look and there seems to always
be people fishing there. Only ever seen people catching herring and skippy, blowies etc...
Never seen a mulla but i guess you could get one. I am sure that they catch them of the moles ther in freo.

Just been reading an article in the western angler about fishing for mullaway
around freo harbour. very untersting. Its says that your best to use live bait.
Hope that helps

good bait spot

Fri, 2007-09-28 16:22

havent fished there for about a year or so, but we used to get a bucket full of slimy and horse mackeral and stacks of yellow tail (good for deep sea bait) i'v been there quite a bit and seen the odd KGW and fiddler ray but never seen a mulla but im sure they would be there the main tip is berly heaps of berly and i would use mulie. also dont let your rig on the bottom for long as there are snags and plently of big occys that would be covered in hooks and sinkers

Good spot to gather bait as Milsey said. But not much bigger fish that I've seen pulled out of there besides rays upon rays. I'm not saying there isn't Mulloway there but you will need to put the time and effort. Massive Occys and Squid has been picked up from there aswell these days, maybe take a squid jig with you.

My reels screaming zzzzzzz.... awwww damn it, its another boat!

All the best for the future fishing trips.
Cheers.... Jangles

last time i was down there, sum dude caught a horse of a bonito and was using fresh live yellowtail for bait but the chances of catching bonito this time of year is slim
