Just heard about the D9 area in the sound.
Is it a myth or has anyone caught fish there.

DIVE
Go for a dive at night when the snapper move in and there is a ban in the sound, you won't regret it! MAXY

yes in deed
oh yeah for sure it produces but only some times. when the snapper are in there is a frequent visit. just as the colder weather starts its worth a try for big skippy. otherwise i use it as a yellow tail nursery and get my bait for snappering from there. the dive is insane if the snapper come round you cant see the surface from all the giant snapper

D9 last week
Was out there last week for a fish at night with the father in law and there were plenty of different species around. Small snapper the size of silver brim, small skippy, small port jacksons, small sambo, yellow tails, slimmy mackeral, garfish, herring and even tailor!

I notice you get points for posting to the forum.
what do you do with them, can you use them like frequent flyer points or are they just a ranking system

That was me!
Yeah Mike79 that was me.
Dont listen to Tim Ive had it past the sound but not much further than the 5 as most the time I am on my own and not crazy enough to go that far off show without the safety of numbers.
He is right about having to get some real fish though.

Needs a fishwrecked sticker though.
Hey Jimbo, that rig looks very nice. I just put a fishwrecked sticker on my boat and it looks pretty good. Adam is still taking orders, so drop him a PM if you want one.
Cheers

Up north they dont even have
Up north they dont even have handlines! They just tie a peice of 80lb line to a stick on the beach and throw it out! Rusted hook and all and you should have seen some of the fish they were landing! Make you wild sometimes.lol.
Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!

yeah thats you
yeah thats you. ha ha wish id known would have had a chat.
dude safety in numbers is a good idea but as long as you know what ya boat is capable of and you log on then head out wider well worth it. sound isnt really worth it anymore unless you know the secret wrecks for mulloway(which people with old old boats have been doin) or the snapper are running. sea rescue were there till half ten that night. honestly if you are own your own call the sea rescue give them your exact position even if its your secret spot so they know where to come looking. not many people record what spot ya at. if you remember my boat i had that 35km out thats keen. ill have a photo soon enough i think.

Bit of fun
C'mon Jimbo you know its just a bit of fun.
Jimbos ol tub goes well and makes for a great fishing platform. Been trying for what seems like forever to organise to get out on the same day so that he can investigate some of the spots further out. Problem is we never seem to be available on the same days.
Mike how bigs the Quinnie. Maybe we could arrange an escort out wider for Jimbo oneday.

hell yeah
its only 5.2m with a rocket launcher and a sound system to boot 75 horse. gets up and does a good 70km flat stick. i like the spots round the 25- 30km range out seem to do well on th flat corals. one day i might show ya were to jig big smabos up in just 30m water. little spot i got does well every year. next door neighbours went out the other week got five big boys and a nice baldy form it. he he bastards. but escort sounds good hey

Out Wide
Mines only a 5.5 (till I get the new one) with a 115. Seem to end up doing most trips solo. Can end up being a long day out the fads etc by yourself. I spend most of my time about 40km out and then working my way in as the day gets on looking for ground as I go. Wears your arms out winding up from 90m all day.

Know what you mean
Felt funny last time I hit the derwent. My little tub and all these Gin Palaces around me.
Leave from Pt Peron usually and work it out from there. Its a long way to go out to the 90's but I enjoy it as you dont get as many others out there and it doesnt get as hammered as the 30s and 40's.
Think we should arrange a SOR day out maybe.
