I've only ever been there by boat. It looks like there is a dirt road that goes close on the western side but you'd want some local input. You'd also want to be very wary of crocs if you're walking in from where the track ends.

 Don't know what happened to my post this morning must have been too early and the coffee hadn't kicked in... Can be a rough corrugated track but is accessible, Have a go near the boat launching area there on an incomimg tide as the spings are getting bigger. Bluenose and threadies do go through there.
