Hi All
Have just purchased a Northstar M121. Wondering if the all Australian Card has the same level of detail on the chart or am I better off buying the local WA Card. Can someone let me know if they have the same detail or not? Many Thanks in advance. Cheers Darren

same info with no more
same info with no more detail whatsoever, just a wider spread for the Aus card. I always buy the whole of aus card, you never know where the next few years will take you.

Agree with Tim
In my previous sounder had a card with limitations. It was fine going up here in dampier, and for some reason the card didnt read anything in Exxy. The sounder worked, and there was a track on the plotter, but no detail.
After that I got the whole of Aus Cmap, because as Tim said you just never know, and its not that much more.

Interesting Cransy.....last
Interesting Cransy.....last Northstar I had, as you zoomed in it would get to a certain zoom then the plotter went white. Still had the GPS Co-ord but no detail.

With Navman/Northstar, once
With Navman/Northstar, once you zoom past a certain scale the chart "switches off". Charts are only scaled to go so far so once you're past that they give you no more extra info.
It is called "plotter mode" in your menu and you can either switch it on or off. I can remember which is which but when it is off (for arguments sake) you can only zoom in as close as the chart card will let you, but when it is on, you can zoom right down to about a 20m scale. This is useful when you are navigating to a waypoint, or if are in an area of small scale charts (ie not a populated area) so you can zoom down to a level where you can distinguish between close waypoints. I usually leave my plotter in the mode that allows zooming past the chart, while others do the opposite.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Tim, makes sense.
Thanks Tim, makes sense. Will have a look at the functions when back in the boat to see what grabs me best. Going from the Northstar 557 to M121 has made a huge difference as I don't have to keep changing the screen to keep up with the tracking in channels etc. Thanks again for the input.
